My Two Cents: My little bunny is a big fan of Lays chips. Every time, he sees the advt. during “Chota Bheem” slots, he intently demands me to take him to a closer by shop for buying lays that costs Rs. 20 per packet. Even my wife watches some top (beauty) products’ commercials on TV and she prepares a list to try with. What they dont realize is that when they see a TV ad and buy a product, they actually pay for the TV ad. I don’t watch any commercial of celebrities flaunting a product to lure the audience. Nevertheless, I pay their costs sometimes because my family pesters me, and Im left with no option but to succumb to their demands. Advertisement adds extra 30-40% costs, and in some cases it adds upto 80% % costs. Lavishly, we purchase a product and pay a higher amount of advertisement cost too. After all, companies dont do charity. They pay lakhs of rupees for that ad to be endorsed succinctly by celebrities. And somehow they will have to recover it. I see some local vendors manufacturing the same chips (in better quality and quantity), but rarely do I see the same crowd falling for their “insipid packed chips, for most of us consider it as unhygienic and local brands. That’s the consumer psychology, and this is known to all international companies who hire the popular celebrities to endorse their products solely to create top of mind awareness (TOMA) among different consumer segments. If you are a sensible buyer and don’t get influenced by such commercials, they use others in your family members –your kids, your wife, your siblings, your parents, and your friends – to pay their advertisement cost. Think rationally before falling for a product due to such advertisements. Let utility of a product alone determine your needs! Dont watch : https://youtube/watch?v=C4c8Y5727zY
