My Veterans Day story. I woke up this morning thinking I did not - TopicsExpress

My Veterans Day story. I woke up this morning thinking I did not have to work. I didnt feel good and needed the day off. Then I was called in because my visits were not cancelled and I had to be there for the kids to meet with their biological parents. As the day ended, I had to take a ride to Bart in Pleasanton. On my way home, I decided to stop at KFC to get a root beer float I thought I deserved. Im standing there in line and in front of me is a man in a service uniform. I tapped him on his arm, because I wasnt tall enough to reach his shoulder, lol I asked him if he was in the service and he replied yet. I insisted I paid for his meal and even though he did not want to let me, I bullied him into the deal. As we waited for our food we started talking. Come to find out not only has he been in the service for 25 years but he is also the vice president of the Security Police Officers Association. He was telling me about their bike run today and all the charity work that they do. Of course that led to me talking about case for kids. By the end of our meeting we were swapping information and are now going to see if we can collaborate together to do a bike run for the kids or some type of charity event. I looked at him and I said well, you never know who youre going to meet. But Im pleased to meet you and thank you for your service. He looks at me and says thank you and for all that you do. I always tell my kids, be nice to everyone because you never know who you were going to meet.
