My Views on the Oko Vanderpuje Faux Pas I sincerely believe that Mr Alfred Oko Vanderpuje, the Mayorized District Chief Executive (DCE) of Accra must be given the sack for committing such an unpardonable faux pas in the matter of Madam Theodosia Oko and the renaming of the national hockey pitch! However, I feel that the president must not be stampeded into taking that decision on the spur of the moment. In fact, no president worth his sort will yield to that kind of pressure. Every leader wants to be seen to be the owner of his or her decisions. So those of our compatriots mounting pressure on the president to sack Mr Vanderpuje are only creating a buffer zone for him to play the usual NDC-NPP political card. As a matter of fact, if Mr Vanderpuje can point to a single non-NDC member calling for his head, he will be safe for as long as this administration lasts. So I feel the presidency must be given some breathing space to handle the matter. But, all said and done, Mr Vanderpuje must go! His strong headedness and high handedness must give way to a more people-oriented chief executive for the capital city.
