My Wife is Also My Hero: Part 1 I am so lucky to have Dawn Kennedy as my wife and also as my hero. She just completed all requirements for the Juris Doctorate degree from Concord Law School. This is an arduous degree that she has earned over 4 long years of school, the First Year Law Student Exam, and countless hours of study. Many started, few will graduate. This alone is a tremendous accomplishment, but here is why she is my hero. She earned this law degree despite: Our oldest son being deployed to Afghanistan Our second oldest son suffering through the heartbreak of having his baby son moved to New York Our oldest daughter moving to Tampa Our third oldest son putting off starting college because... An accident that nearly took my life and put me in the hospital in Atlanta for 2 1/2 months with a TBI, loss of most of my hearing, and loss of ability to balance Loss of our business because the accident left me unable to work, which led to a loss of substantial income for 9 months. Our youngest daughter being hospitalized three times and an unsuccessful move to Pennsylvania for a few months during the 4 years. Many people would have seen all or one or some of these things as logical reasons for quitting. She did not. Despite all this, Dawn Kennedy did it. She stayed the course. She continued the work, she earned the degree. I am very, very proud of her. She is a beautiful woman, beautiful wife, great mother, and tremendous person.
