My Xmas alienation has started. I just went through a 128 page Xmas section from one of the Icelandic newspapers and there isnt even one single article in it that is of relevance or interest to me. I have tried to relate to the midwinter festive atmosphere as best I can. I love trees and I like having one indoors (a fake one for environmental reasons) and decorating it. I like lights in the dark time and appreciate celebrating the winter solstice. But thats about it. All the rest just seems unnecessary and a bit oppressive because its impossible to get away from it. Xmas goes on for too long in Iceland and always leaves me feeling alienated.
