My absolute favorite song about immigration, by Julie Gold, from Philly. Im so proud of Barack Obama. Everything he said tonight, I only wish he couldve gone farther. I know so many moms and dads in Brentwood--who clean our homes and schools and take care of our horses and roof our houses and landscape our yards and change the beds in our hotels and dig our ditches for fiberoptic cable and cook in our restaurants--whose children are U.S. citizens. They deserve not to worry theyll be separated from their American children. They pay the same sales taxes we do, and it accounts for a larger percentage of their income. Theyre working hard and doing their fair share. Weve all broken the law sometime. That they did it coming here for a better life, and then acted accordingly, gives them a pass from me. Im glad Obama is meeting them halfway. And since we hear so much about Christianity these days, I am confident its what Jesus would do, too.
