My additional thoughts to photographers on these losers - TopicsExpress

My additional thoughts to photographers on these losers continually driving the photography industry further down the industry. Im stoked this is sparking some fuel for interest. What is also something to think on is its not entirely the brides fault, nor should the bride suffer because of her budget. Sadly - many of the people selling their services on CL arent good enough to shoot. BUT! They should be. We truly should have regulations and requirements that are in place to force people to be a master of their craft in order to hand a shingle on their door & start charging. This is where the disconnect is in many of todays new photographers in relation to film photographers. When one shoots film, you HAVE to get it right in camera or your screwed. Because of this process, one HAD to be a master of their craft. Today, mastery of a craft is no longer an integral part of photography. Combine that with the majority of photographers showboating their skills giving away the farm, combine that with amateurs teaching and combine that with people who steal photos from other photographers & calling it biz - our industry is in for a bigger shit storm than what its in now. If you think Im mistaken, youre in for a surprise because were at the tip of the tip of the tip of the iceberg. What can be done is to encourage others to learn their craft, ONLY teach when you are a master of your craft and CALL OUT in public those who steal photography AND music. Not call them out behind the curtain in threads like this - but lambaste them in public. Public shaming that is done with our corporate vendors through social media to get results we deserve should be exploited in the same manner to those who steal copyrighted intellectual property and use it for profit. One last thing we can do is to quit short-stroking each other. If work isnt up to par, provide constructive criticism - dont BS each other. This is at epidemic proportions right now & it makes me want to puke. So choose to educate, empower & inspire others and lets work towards making our industry better instead of watching DBags like these people & the Doug Gordons (who just got busted AGAIN for plagiarism) of our industry continually driving more coffins in the casket the photography industry is getting buried in. omaha/news/metro/photographers-a-no-show-at-weddings-and-then-in-court/article_f869df1f-3489-5711-ad7c-c8c24c255350.html
