My all-time favorite New Years Eve party was Y2K. The eve of 01-01-00. Generally, Im no fan of year-end revelry, for private primal reasons. But this was an unmitigated blast. Peoples plans vacillated that night because they wanted something special for the millennium. In the end, the salsa gang all ended up at my Condo-in-Redondo. We danced the night away and kept dancing straight through the weekend at the mind-blowing concert by Los Van Van on New Years Day @ Sportsmens Lodge. Rosie Caballero and I hadnt even kissed yet, but the magic of the weekend set destiny in motion. Three years later to the day, Andres was born. He turns 12 tomorrow, so we have more celebrating to kick off the year.
