My all-time favorite similes, by the way, come from the hard-boiled-detective fiction of the 40s and 50s, and the literary descendants of the dime-dreadful writers. These favorites include It was darker than a carload of assholes... -Stephen King, On Writing ------ I usually read this book, a little at a time, while Im writing one of my own. The bit above never fails to make me swallow my own face laughing. I mustve read this book at least 20 times, and that line always--ALWAYS--catches me unprepared with a spoonful of cereal/sip of tea/bite of a sandwich in my mouth. :D Now Im off to write. Play nice with the other kids, people.
