My amazing mother is a SURVIVOR of Battered Womans Syndrome, and today, she spoke out for the first time publicly about it. Ive watched my mother overcome this, and I can tell you, its no easy task. For ALL the battered women out there - keep your head up. From my mom As a survivor of a domestic abuse relationship for several years, women have to realize until you are SICK AND TIRED, YOU WILL STAY. We need to impress upon our young women that this is not the way to be treated and not to accept the b*****t told to us by our partners. We are better than that and once we love ourselves we will not settle. It has nothing to do with finances, bling or status. At the end of the day, when you are beat up, physically, mentally, emotionally and financially, we have to love ourselves enough to stop the lies we tell to ourselves and others and get our acts together, be our own best advocate and stop depending on media and the unreality television to define who we are.
