My apologies for being tardy with an update. Ive been working to regain strength, and take the proper combinations of medicine. And, speaking of medicine Dena and I went into drug store shock the other day. I have get ten doses of a powerful anti-clotting medication.... and it was the type of med that comes in ten sterilized hypodermic syringes already loaded with the proper dose. Each of the ten doses was $92. Total out the door price for the GENERIC medicine was $920. At least it took a chunk out of my deductible for this year. A terrible thought: what about the folks who have no savings to dip into, or no friends who contributed to their recovery? Im starting the week with hope Ill get some news on blood clotting ability- a key to being scheduled for surgery. Illl have another blood test tomorrow afternoon to check on the progress. Im not looking forward to surgery--and I have the best surgeon in this region, Greg Midis. Oncologist Dr, Grapsky is monitoring my blood chemistry. And nobody can quite pinpoint why I get so rubber legged at times. Im down 50 pounds from the date of my original diagnosis. I believe Ill eventually have to go to John H. Daniel and get a couple of suits taken up in the britches....or invest in some suspender buttons for them. I have to take time to praise my better half. Dena has been great through this down time. After 38 years, I still wonder how she puts up with me. She has been right there with me, and I can talk to her about anything. I am a blessed man. My three kids help me find humor when humor might be in short supply. And they also help in many, many ways-- sometimes just making sur ai get to see the grandchildren! Friends at New Hopewell have blessed us with prayer support, tasty eats, and friendly faces. Im shaking my head and thinking about it right now. So---another poke to the chest for a port-accesed blood test (odd, but better than a fishing expedition in the arm :-)) And hope that I will go past another knot in the timeline string to surgery.
