My baby did so good at the vet this evening. It hurts my insides to see him in pain. I never knew Id once want to give my life for an animal, but I would absolutely give a limb or two for him to be better. I cant say enough for Dr Brad Murphy with Vestavia Animal Clinic. I know there are some shady vets out there, but he honestly is one of the best vets Ive ever known. Plus, he knows how to speak to a distressed mothers heart. He never minces words, hes always honest, & he doesnt mind talking to me using medical jargon, which puts me at ease. For now, the diagnosis is arthritis (at FIVE!! Its just not fair...). Hes on a short-term round of Previcox, because I dont want him on anything long term. If I dont want to take meds long term, Im surely not going to put my kids on them (unless its medically necessary, obviously). Hes on glucosamine/chondroitin (NOT from China). Hes also back on bed rest, which KILLS ME. No kidding - making this brother have downtime is like having him do hard time. Its agonizing for all of us. Were going to keep a close eye on him for a week, & if he doesnt get any better, then well be having to explore other, more invasive, involved & expensive evaluations. For now, weve manipulated him every way to Sunday, both without & under anesthesia, with no real results. And I know, because Ive done it, as well as participated in watching. God love his heart, hes just like his mama - his bodys getting older faster than his brain. Life just sucks sometimes. =(
