My beautiful wife, Edie Rudy, and I were fortunate enough to know Joan Rivers and we loved her as a kind and compassionate person and a wonderful entertainer, who assumed many persona in her performances, not unlike some very successful male comedy stars. My wife wrote this Tribute to Joan Rivers which was published in the Miami Herald. Joan Rivers kind, caring My husband and I knew and loved Joan Rivers for many years. Joan was a wonderful, loving funny and charitable human being, unlike the hyper-critical stage personality that she assumed in some of her later appearances. We first met her years ago when my husband reviewed her comedy performances in New York City clubs. Joan and I became close friends when she accepted our invitation to help fundraise for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Gloria Vanderbilt also served on the board with us. Joan was a wonderful friend, and her stories about the wonders of Miami led us to retire to this marvelous area. Joan loved her daughter, Melissa, and her late husband, Edgar Rosenberg. She was a kind, charitable and compassionate person who loved people and animals. Joan Rivers was a great comedy star, entrepreneur and a wonderful friend.
