My best friend and I are starting a journey together to grow in understanding as well as form a deeper connection with Christ. That can be really hard to do in such a fast paced and packed full day, but it is ESSENTIAL. For the heck of it, Im going to share our thoughts and reflections on the one verse we read and meditate on each day. I hope this encourages someone or maybe inspires someone to follow along with us. Psalm 36:1 Sin whispers to the wicked, deep within their hearts. They have no fear of God at all. This verse begins 36 with a saddening statement. A sinner does not fear God, even at his core. Sadly, there are moments in life where I believe for a moment God is not in control over me of. However, I am EXTREMELY quick to learn that God is both loving a wrathful. When we turn away from him, believing we are pure or can do things along, we are quick to listen to the devils lies to never fear God. Yet we should fear him all the more. For we should force away these evil thoughts. May we always love The Lord for his character and FEAR HIM for it as well. Im fascinated by the fact it whispers to their hearts. That reminds me of Jeremiah 17:9 The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is? And that paints a really good description of the human condition. Whats even more fascinating to me is how the devil twists our thinking with the idea follow your heart and our culture often endorses this. However, we see how easily that will lead you astray because the effect to this cause is no fear of God nor trust in his sovereign plan, but instead, it leads to a reliance on your own emotionally charged decisions. Our hearts are fickle. His is not. Our hearts are undeniably full of our sinful desires. Yet, his is full of both perfect desires and intense u wavering love for us. We need to shape our hearts to be like his and not rely on them as they are.
