My biggest problem is the fact that with previous governments as well as this one, and even now as we speak, is the exclusion of Grand bay as an essential part in the economic evolution of Dominica. In the 1800s roseau, portsmouth, grand bay was the point of focus for trade, industry business. This was mainly due to geographical positioning and the ease of access due to our topography and technology at the time. Industry was booming, people was at work, a quote from an article written in the chronicle back in 1970s, said the people knew money at that time, and they were a working society. Grand bay had a port of entry and exit for both goods and services as well as human resource. Although back in those days labourers had to deal with slavery like wages and environment, but i am brining attention to the fact that, we were moving forward. Today we have no port of entry neither exit, for any kind of activity. Today we have no industry driven initiatives, High unemployment, high poverty. Why is it that Grand bay has been pushed aside! The way things are, it seems in the next 40 years again, all we will have is improved roads and a seemingly improved infrastructure. So that is all for us. Unless we are not included in the entire economic planning and strategies as possible economic hub, then we are bound to remain in this state of disrepute.
