My birth photographer posted a status about how women nearly always regret NOT hiring a birth photographer (and no one STILL that Ive heard so far has regretted hiring one!), so heres my take on why I hired her! I ended my first pregnancy via emergency induction followed by a thirteen hour separation from my son as well as a four day supervision whenever he was in the room with me (if a nurse wasnt available to watch me with him, then he wasnt allowed with me) due to the medications they had me on. So needless to say, I didnt really see my son until I went home a week after I delivered. And SO MUCH HAD CHANGED with him during that week!! I have three photos (if that) of him in the hospital, and nothing decent of me and him. And definitely nothing of my family with him. When we found out I was pregnant again, the first thing I did was hire a birth photographer (Faith Doggett Photography, an amazing colleague and friend!!). Theres no way Im missing those moments again!!! Thats also a big part of WHY I am a birth photographer and WHY I am pursuing becoming a doula. So... Why havent you hired your birth photographer yet??
