My birthday in 1963 was a day of joy and sadness. I turned 4 on November 25, 1963. My brother-in-law turned 21 - a big deal as he was legal. My Sissy tells me that when they came over to celebrate our birthdays together (which we did for a long while) the funeral was on the TV. And thats all I remember: The constant drum rolls. What I dont remember is the Nation in mourning, but now I know why. What a waste of such a learned, progressive man. Any loss of life is sad, but his was especially hurtful, as he had such promise - just like America. Instead, we entered the Vietnam War (which LBJ couldnt wait to do), and lost the most promising young men of a generation. This is the day the Lord has made; Rejoice! And be glad in it!
