My birthday is June 5. During the summer of my fourth year, I - TopicsExpress

My birthday is June 5. During the summer of my fourth year, I was in my neighborhood playing by myself; my form of play at that moment was running. As I ran down the empty sidewalks in the Navy housing apartment complex, I realized that I myself never moved. My legs moved, but this large ball of a planet we call Earth merely spun beneath my feet while I myself stayed in the same location. I never moved, the world simply spun underneath my feet and would spin only as fast as I could move those legs of mine! With this new found knowledge I would spin the world for dozens of yards one direction, then stop and turn, and then spin the world in another direction. This action of enlightened super self aware play between myself and the world continued for at least thirty minutes. Then, the unexplainable hapenned. During this course of world spinning, I had been the only one human, or large enough to be seen animal, in the scenario of my minds eye. Suddenly, at the upcoming crossroad of the the sidewalks that introduced an intersection of lined concrete in relation to the sidewalk I was already running upon, the same crossroads I was going to use to guide my next lefthand turn, suddenly I saw that there was a couple walking down its path. I spun the world a bit more, but then... I stopped. I stopped. I stopped and watched. I watched their feet and expected to be spun like the rest of the world around me only this time I relinquished the power of control to that couple. But, then I thought, what fun is that? It would be more fun to fight for the control of the spin much like two athlethic lumberjacks might fight for control of spinning a log. So, I ran toward them, knowing that the opposite steps of my feet for sure would stop the spin in its tracks. But, as I saw the buildings and everything else pass by me, I realized that didnt attack didnt work. So, I cut to the left, and to the right, careful to match their steps so that I had two steps to their one. Unfortunately, the results were the same: the world moved around me and yet there were two competing forces of spin at work that didnt counteract each other. I was disappointed in my epiphany that I was the one sole thing thing that caused the world go round and round. I stopped running and tried to figure out how it was possible that two people could walk towards each other, and continue getting closer, yet all laws that I was aware of that caused spinning of the world to work said that that course of action shouldnt be possible. It was troubling, and heartbreaking. To a degree. After a moment, I saw this downed tree across the way. It was a big tree, at least 10 times taller than I was, yet I was able to pick it up by the trunk and drag it down the sidewalk. I might not be able to spin the world, I thought to myself, but I can carry this tree! Words cannot express properly the joy in my soul as I dragged that tree down the sidewalk for all to see that I was a kid that can carry and drag a tree tens times as me!!!
