My boys and I planted the majority of our vegetable garden tooday. I have 6 sections approximately 4X6. Due to the slope on the back side of this spot, we didnt have to use the boards supplied with the kit on the back, so we were able to get more sections. This is a new yard and a new garden spot. So far the zucchini and squash I started in the house are looking great. I appreciate the surplus onion, strawberry, and horseradish plants that Patricia Fox Vollmer shared with me. I should have a few tomato plants to share myself. My main issues here will be deer and surviving mosquitos to weed and water the garden properly. We intend to have a front fence up within the week to help with the wildlife issue. I was happy to have the involvment of my kids today reminiscent of the times I spent with my dad planting when I was little. He always tells the story of how hed put the tomato plants in the ground and Id come behind them not understanding and pull them back out. Hed patiently replant them when I was done helping. Gotta love the patience. I explained to my boys that weve have successes and failures out here but that surely something will take off and delight us. Although Ive gardened before, I am excited to try some herbs and other new veggies here that I havent tried before. Heres hoping for a bounty that makes it worth the effort. So far so good.
