My boys are knocked out in the recliner. I am grateful; they needed it. Especially those moments of snuggles and love leading up to much needed sleep. Mommy needed to sit back and witness them. The last 41 hours have been … Not what I expected… Not what I wanted.. I’ll just say it – not fair. I know, I know life is not fair. It seems to always come unexpectedly, harshly and always leaves you hurting. A man I love dearly, as my own father was called home today. Pops: the man who raised my husband, made me stew just because I loved it, took me fishing, helped with my puppies, and picked on me very chance he got. My husband has lost his father, my son this ‘Pops.’ He loves Pops, he loves saying Pops – dragging out that ‘s’ and laughing so hard about it. I’ve been cautiously waiting for his next Pops’ chant, for him to grab one of those darn balloons Pops blow up with him the last night he watched Daniel for us – to run in the family room, rub the balloon on the carpet and then reaching to stick it on the ceiling fan blades – oh the fun times they were able to have together. Everything is still catching up with me. Thank you all for your prayers and out pouring of love. You are a blessing to us. I’d like to ask that you still consider giving blood to OBI in Michael Phillip’s name. The amount of blood, frozen plasma Pops received was unmeasurable. Blood donors are so very important; especially this time of year. For donor hours check obi.org and thank you. I also wanted to say thank you to the ONE medical team at Deaconess who worked on Pops for nearly 12 hours in the surgery room Monday and the additional nurses and doctors in ICU who were attentive to Pops’ condition and our emotional needs. Job well done. I love you Pops.
