It seems to matter little to you that the lives that do arrive here without drowning are immediately sent to a prison where mental torture is the order of the day. You fail to discuss the fact that one of Manus Islands migration agents has left her job because she could no longer cope with the bare-faced lying she was instructed to do to keep the detainees placated.You fail to acknowledge the horror expressed by the Manus Island interpreter who accepted that job because she believed in this way of dealing with boat people, but has now left her job after witnessing the cruelty and barbarism of the place...It is incredible that, without the inquiry that people are demanding taking place, you are able to say PERHAPS hundreds of rioting and stone-throwing detainees battled Papua New Guinea police and centre staff... I could just as easily say Perhaps hundreds of G4S staff and Papua New Guinea locals clubbed and shot...You have outrageously manipulated language to achieve a smoke and mirrors defence of our criminal government. I used to think that you were a good guy who happened to have a different opinion to mine. I am sad to say that I find your cleverwords to be vehicles of deceit.
