My brother Garth Riess is expected to complete his bicycle journey from Pemberton, B.C. To Ushuaia, Argentina. He will likely complete this incredible trip within the next 5-6 weeks. I was not familiar with Ushuaia, but have discovered that it is capital of the Argentine province of Tierra del Fuego and the southernmost city in the world. Ushuaia is located in a wide bay on the southern coast of the island of Tierra del Fuego, guarded on the north by the Martial mountain range and on the south by the Beagle Channel - pop about 64,000. Also known as Ushuaia, Patagonia. This trip will have seen my now 61 year old brother bicycle well over 20,000 km to aid awareness of Guillian Bare Syndrome. I am in awe. I certainly hope no one is expecting me to do such things once I turn 60!!!
