My brother Jon who is pastor in PA tells a story about a gentleman - TopicsExpress

My brother Jon who is pastor in PA tells a story about a gentleman by the name of John Kavanaugh who as a young man in 1975 traveled to India and spent some time with mother Teresa at her ministry in Calcutta. He was seeking an answer to what he should do with his life and as he fed the poor, and washed the dying he found himself wishing for clarity in his life. He scheduled a meeting with her so the two of them could sit down and discuss the question that had been making laps around his head. At the start of their meeting she asked him, “How can I pray for you.” He answered that he desired clarity in his life. She started laughing and told him, “I have never had a moment of clarity in my life, that is not what you need. I will pray for you to trust.” Clarity is a bright light on a dark night. Its sought after and craved in lifes fog, and it helps people believe. Our family is living without clarity on a day to day basis. Grayson has been in the hospital for a week today, and we are no closer to finding out if we go home, then we were on the first day we arrived. Plans that you make months in advance are now written in very faint pencil on our consciousness. These things create instability in our life, as the importance of the moment overcomes the clarity of planning and hope. We desire clearness, but what we truly need is trust.
