My brother had a book he would hold with pride A little red cover with a broken spine On the back he hand-wrote a quote inside, When the rich wage war its the poor who die. Whether I agree with our reasons for war or not, our veterans deserve support, and not just with yellow ribbons or patriotic utterances. But by funding the services that will help them deal with what theyve seen, and transition into a society thats very different from military life. If were not willing to uphold that, then we dont need to be sending any of them to war for us. Honor a veteran today and every day, by examining what you stand for and who you vote for -- and importantly, whether those you voted for did anything to help veterans in any real way.
