:My brother-in-law, Nasir, got me this really nice Bangla textbook. So Ive been sitting here trying to learn the alphabet. Pretty sure my brain has half-melted out of my ears by now, but I can actually sort of understand a couple of letters. The language would be easier if it were just letters arranged in a specific order. But nooooooo, this language has letter signatures. Which means that it looks different depending on where it is in the sentence. So Ive got to learn 10 out of the 11 vowels TWICE. Some of the shapes dont even make sense. Its read right to left, but sometimes a vowel is written BEFORE the consonant sound that precedes it. Its like writing ta in English and going, lol, I had you going there with this whole left-to-right thing. That words at. And a couple vowels can get broken up, reshaped, and then put AROUND the next letter. So its like writing an o in the shape of a backwards J followed by t and then shoving the letter n between the two and going, Hahaha, that reads as no. WTH, Bangla?! O_o
