My brother wanted to revisit a childhood Halloween favorite; he suggested I should too for today’s #31DaysOfHalloween ‘Witch’s Night Out’ - 1978 Wtf did I just watch? It was either the heavy amount of drug use in the 70’s or extreme laziness that illustrated this hidden gem of Halloween specials. I gotta be honest, I watched this after a 12 hour shift of catering to my customers every need, and shamelessly laughing at their horrific jokes. So needless to say, I’m a little burnt out. But I can guarantee whoever was involved with this movie is definitely burnt out. It’s like they wanted you to experience their acid trip with them. The colors. Why? Why does the blue man have blue hair, blue clothes, and a blue face. Why was it acceptable for a network like NBC to be like, “It looks like you’ve put no effort into these shitty drawings…I love it. Let’s air this tomorrow. It needs absolutely no polishing, IT’S PERFECT!” And it’s just wacky shapes and forms for the human(?) characters. The short film, starring the voice of Gilda Radner, is about a good witch who can turn you into whatever you desire. After turning two children, who summoned her, into their “scary” halloween costumes, the town mistakes them as “real” monsters. The town hunts the witch and her monsters only to have everything be resolved and reach the happy ending for everyone, including the witch. The end was the best part, hands down, as the witch tells people to shout out what they want to turn into for one night, and the responses are met with: A queen, Atilla the Hun, a hockey puck, and a gay mans voice saying, “I wanted to be a queen” disappointingly. Oh, and how could I forget the music. It’s worse than a simple Casio keyboard preprogrammed track, with out of tune vocals. But, damn is it catchy. That’sss Halloween!…witch magic! Halloween. Halloween. Halloween. (repeat 10 times)”! The 80’s are coming! It’s a pretty funny watch if you feel like taking the 25 minutes to do so, or maybe you forgot all about this from your childhood and want to see what you remember. That’sss Halloween!…witch magic! Halloween. Halloween. Halloween.”! I can’t believe that’s what’s going to be stuck in my head for the next week... https://youtube/watch?v=ekf4rFhbxj4
