My brother was sharing about methylation and epigenetics. His professor wish he had more time to teach about the subject. It was interesting because it was shared at a doTERRA convention two years ago. Im glad that the subject is not only shared by the naturopathic/holistic community but embraced at the college level as well. Basically, what it means is your diet can effect your genes which can greatly affect your next generation. Previously we think that major changes comes with many generations but simple changes can immediately affect the next generation or the generation after. My brother gave me an example of yellow mice. Certain food can affect a gene to cause mice to be yellow. Once a brown mice has fur, it wont grow yellow fur if its gene is affected but its children will have yellow fur. What this means is what you eat not only affects your body for today, it will affect your children or grandchildren. Generations that are faced with health problems may have been from lifestyles of the previous generations. The battle is not only changing the lifestyle to remedy current health challenges today, we must encourage positive lifestyle change to help the future unborn generation. Its not only what you eat. Its whats put on you. The air we breathe. etc. Its starts at an early age. Emphasis on health starts with the youth.
