My cat Barney has gone to Heaven to be with all my other beloved pets that I have been blessed to have come into my life. Barney was one of three cats that my friend Teri and I would care for at a feral cat colony in Chardon. Three years ago his two buddies disappeared. Barney was all by himself and lonely. He was an older cat, feral, and a tough boy. It was around this time of the year three years ago, that I brought Barney home. The weather was turning cold, much like now, and we didnt think he would survive the winter all by himself. We were finally able to catch Barney in a humane trap that we disguised with straw on all sides. Barney came to live the next three years in my care for life room in my basement. It isnt anything fancy but there is a window, and heat in the winter, air conditioning in the summer, soft cat beds and blankets, and always food and water. This summer he was able to enjoy going outdoors safely in the enclosed pen/condo that Ray built for them to enjoy fresh air and a change of scenery. Barney never really allowed me to pet him, but we had an understanding. He shared his room with seven other cats that I often referred to as Barneys Harem. If anyone needed medicated they would hide behind Barney because they knew he would protect them and not let me anywhere near them, lol. These pictures are of Barney after I picked him up off the floor and wrapped him in towels and snuggled him like a baby. His face is one of peace. Although very sad and tearful, it was a good feeling to be able to hold him and kiss him and tell him that he was always loved. You see it never matters to me if their young/old, short/long hair, male/female, friendly/feral. But rather what matters is that they are all Gods creatures and deserve a chance. Three years with Barney in my life was better than none. Love you big guy...you will have an even larger Harem in Heaven...
