My cat Tigger is a uniquely patient cat. He rarely meows at me to do things. He just waits and looks at me -- and sometimes leads me to somewhere he wants me to go. If I stop following, hell just sit or stand, look at me in a certain way, and waits until I continue following. For example, if he wants water, he sits next to his water bowl, waits, and looks at me. And he will wait without making any sounds for long periods of time until I glance over to see where he is, then I know what he wants and get it. Even when he needs to wake me up, he doesnt meow incessantly, he just pokes my face gently over and over again until I finally rise from that temporary death. He mostly meows at me to communicate almost everything but things like food, water, litter, to go outside, etc. He mostly meows to say hi, to talk about things that I can only intuit what they are about, missed you, to say he has returned, etc.
