My client this morning asked this and I get this question a lot: Whats the best way for me to approach figuring out what the best transition is from my wage job to self employment? Heres the answer I gave her: Unless you are a MASTER at something, you should NOT quit your day job. If you are not a master at something and can teach OTHERS this, then it makes no sense to quit working for someone else as you will NOT be able to create income for yourself. So my advice is to focus on ONE thing, and if you are SERIOUS about getting out of wage-slavedom, put ALL of your energy into MASTERING it. THEN, get your FIRST client with what you have mastered, AFTER your normal jobs work hours. Provide IMPECCABLE service and show this first client MASSIVE results. If they want to continue working with you, then you know you have DONE that. THEN, get your NEXT client and do the same. Soon, by word of MOUTH and REFERRALS, you will have as many clients as you require to TRANSITION from your J.O.B. to doing what you have MASTERED full time. Yet, taking one weekend workshop, getting certified and then quitting your day job on Monday to rely SOLELY on something you only know THEORETICALLY is the path to stress, overwhelm, and GIVING from a STATE of LACK. You require to be WHOLE yourself and the MASTER of what you teach on the planet before you can even THINK about serving others. Much love and respect, Toby Alexander
