My closest friends, my girlfriend, and my family; know that youre super important to me, and of course, Im thankful for you all. But Id like to take some time to be thankful for all the crazy people who are also insane enough to spend so much time, money, and heart into creating music and sharing it at the local level. No matter what anyone says about the scene you should know that your art matters so much to someone, whether that be fans, your friends, your bandmates, your family, or at the very least the other musicians who could not participate in a music scene without other musicians. Whether youre playing to 200 or 2 people, Im so thankful and appreciative that all of you are trying to keep a local music scene alive. If you havent experienced local music, I would definitely, definitely recommend it. No, not every band youre gonna hear is going to be right for you, but I swear there are talented, passionate, wonderful, creative people out there who are creating and displaying something magical. And besides hipster cred points, discovering an artist you really dig thats local to your town, county, or state is so rewarding. The coolest part about the local music scene is that it can really feel like a community. So I encourage you to take a chance and go see your buddys band. Or go to a show where you know no one. Talk to bands you like. Talk to people about bands you like. Youll make friends. Bands especially love to make friends with people that dig their music. Theyll want to know you because they want you to join them in their musical pursuits. You can make so many cool friends by just going to shows. You dont have to be in a band to be a part of the community. To all those creating music out there: I appreciate you. Thank you for continuing to pump life into music on whatever level youre at. Keep working on your art and create things youre proud of. Youre an important part of the community. Im gonna tag as many musical friends that I can think of, currently active or not. Feel free to browse them, and if youre looking for something that you might like, dont hesitate to talk to me about what kinds of music youre into. Ill try to point you towards a band you might love.
