My colleagues at Bella Vista High are amazing. They surprised me with huge party, huge banner (made by the awesome student government students), a great performance by the BVHS band, and in addition to teachers and staff, they brought others: my husband, Evelyn Bejarano Tanya Zaccone (and also invited Christine Christine Lanphere and Margaret Brown), and there were even some parents and students there. Its a great school with teachers who are really passionate about their subjects and about their students, admin who support both teaching and learning, counselors I have seen bend over backwards to ensure students receive the support and guidance they need, staff all over campus (in every role) who make powerful connections with students and support the teachers work as well behind the scenes....and amazing, talented, fun students that make each class each day its own special family, complete with inside jokes. This school has always been a place where I could collaborate with and learn from my BV colleagues and where it has always been OK to try a new approach. I have grown as a teacher because at this school, I have been encouraged to learn and allowed to just try--even when the things I want to try sound a little crazy. Or a lot crazy. So I was overwhelmed with the entire celebration. Then I got outside and found that the office had also done this on the digital sign. Thanks BV Family
