My comment on this is somewhat of a paradox. To begin with, when the mom got pulled over initially for speeding - she should have simply accepted the ticket and took the matter up at a later date with the court system, if she believed that the ticked was given in error. Next, on the other hand I believe that with all that has been in the news recently about black children being killed by police officers, (authority figures) she may have been honestly fearful for the lives of her children and herself. By leading the officers on a chase that ended at a hotel, leads me to believe that she felt that she and her children would be safer giving up in such a public place. Ive often been told by police officers in my youth, that if I was ever followed by a police car on a dark and lonely road, that I should go the nearest public place (gas station, etc.) and then turn myself in after having the clerk call the local police to determine if they in fact had a car in my area! I say all this to say that this world is quickly becoming an extremely frightening place! Its difficult to trust anyone nowadays! I dont condone what this mother did, but I think in view of all that has gone on or is going on I can understand her reaction.
