My contribution: email to M. P. . Poilievre: I sent this to M. Poilievre this morning: (June 4, 2014) The government is appealing the ruling last month that gives back the right to vote to Canadians who live outside Canada. In 1993 the government decreed that those outside Canada for more than 5 years could not vote, although we were still expected to pay taxes. Go figure! ________ this is the letter: As someone who must have looked for work during your career, Im sure that you contemplated working outside Canada when the job was worth it. I too have done the same thing. For 9 years I have been living and working (very productively) in South Korea. Every morning I listen to CBC News, I keep abreast of events in Canada. I even started a petition and directly emailed MPs about the lake to tailing pond issue in 2008. I am invested in my country. You are being very presumptive by implying that we do not hold our country and our citizenship in high regard. Please stop wasting the tax money of Canadians by launching an appeal on the May 2014 ruling on voting rights that are sanctioned in the Canadian Charter of Rights. cc. to as many people and organizations that I can think of. Elizabeth J Bailey, London, Ontario Canada Cheongju, South Korea Feel free to use whatever parts appeal to you. Liz Bailey
