My conversation with an operator from Western Union Compliance - TopicsExpress

My conversation with an operator from Western Union Compliance Department. Two weeks ago I was driving home from work. Before I pulled into my driveway, my phone rang and I answered it. Me: hello The operator: Good afternoon my name is Jose. I’m operator number 703 and I’m calling from Western Union Compliance department. Can I speak to Peter Nhiany. Me: good afternoon Jose this is Peter Nhiany speaking to you. What can I do for you Jose? I asked. Operator: Mr. Nhiany, you appeared in our system to have been sending a lot of money to different people in different countries. Western Union Compliance Department has a policy of checking such financial activities and that is the reason why I’m calling you today. Me: okay; so what? Operator: can you tell me what your address is please? Me: wait a minute. Can you repeat that question again please? I asked. Operator: Mr. Nhiany, I asked if you could please tell me your address. Me: are you kidding me now? I asked. You called me; you must also know my address if you could call me. What address do you have? I asked. Operator: he stated exactly my home address, city, state and a zip code. Me: there you go. Now you know and have information about me. Why did you asked me to tell you my address since you have it? I asked. Operator: sorry Mr. Nhiany; it is part of the policy that we asked our customers to verify their addresses. Me: but you called me. Did I call you? I asked. Operator: no Mr. Nhiany you did not call us and I apologize. Me: You better apologize Jose (Operator). Operator: can you verify your telephone number for me? Me: Jose, what number did you call? Operator: he read to me exactly my phone number. Me: Jose, you guys love to waste people’s time for no freakin good reasons. When people call, you put them on hold on hold and play a music you have no idea whether it could be a trigger to some people. What the heck is wrong with you people? Operator: Sorry Mr.Nhiany. I understand how you feel. Me. Oh yaah. Operator: Mr. Nhiany, can you tell me who are the people you recently sent money to? Me: why? Operator: because this is the main reason of Western Union compliance Department I made this call. Me: So? Operator: so can you tell me who are the people you recently sent money to Mr. Nhiany? Me: Jose, you guys are too funny. Operator: why is that Mr. Nhiany? Me: you called me because I appeared in the system to have sent a lot of money to too many different people in different countries right? I asked. Operator: Yes Mr. Nhiany. Me: Okay Jose. May I ask you sir? Operator: Yes Mr. Nhiany you may. Me: who are those people you seeing in your system that I have been sending money? Operator: Mr. Nhiany, we want to know that is why I asked you. Me: Jose, Operator: Yes Mr. Nhiany. Me: you guys piss people off for nonsenses. Operator: I’m sorry Mr. Nhiany if you feel that way. Me: You better be sorry. Me: Can you tell me who are those people you are questioning me to have sent a lot of money? Operator: he picked out my wife, my two nephews, and my cousin who live in Uganda. What is your relationship with Jane Doe (fake name to represent my wife). Me: she is my wife. Operator: why do you send money to her? Me: Hahahahaha. You are not serious about this; are you? Operator: Mr. Nhiany, I’m serious. Why do you send her money? Me: Jose, do you have family? Operator: Yes I do Mr. Nhiany. Me: Do you supports them? Operator: Yes Mr. Nhiany. Me: So now you must have an idea of why I send money to my wife. Don’t you? Operator: Mr. Nhiany, I do not mean to be too invasive asking questions pertaining to what you do for your family. I’m requires to ask all these questions and I’m sorry. Me. Oh okay. Operator: here, he asked me why I send money to my cousin, nephews and so on. Big deal: I sent money to Egypt before but on a very small scale, but that became a huge deal as to why I send money and what is my relationship with the people I sent money in Egypt. I had not enough time to waste and I gave Jose the operator a pressure to finish questioning or I was going to hang up on him. The Operator thanked me for wasting my time and wished me a good evening. But before we ended the call, I told him, if you guys think everyone sending money overseas is supporting terrorists, then you should get over with it or else do your analysis of the money transaction. I was so pissed off since I just got in my drive way and wanted to get out of the car.
