My cousin who is just out of school… asked me yesterday about my job! He happens to be ardent fan of Computer Engineers… and he hopes to be one as soon as he finishes his studies … even his career counseling report says he would be good at that… (Yea even 10th grade kids have career counseling: sponsored by Manorama) Cousin: I am interested in comp engineering. Me: hmmm.. That’s good.. My job has nothing to do with programming.. so I can’t imagine how boring it could be.. Cousin: Btw what job r u doin? Me: I am into process engineering Cousin: What is that? Me: It has to do more with meetings, conference calls.. Talking to people who do programming, and other engineering stuff... all boring for you I bet.. do you really want to know more? Cousin: What? i didnt get a thing what u said! Me: we live on Compute engineers... we limit their creative freedom and tell them you got to be doing what the Company wants rather than.. what they want to do... (Added a positive point so that it will not be hard on him)because they are not alone in the whole effort of creating the program... in essence we fight with them and make them follow some rules which may or may not make sense…did you understand that? Cousin: Ooh thats bad Me: Why is that? Not bad when you consider the satisfaction of disturbing creative freedom... and making people believe in imaginary rules.. Subjective rules rather…And Im called the Quality Guy ***Session ended***
