My current big project is to go through all of my parents - TopicsExpress

My current big project is to go through all of my parents belongings with the intent to purge most of it. There is a storage unit, garage, and house FULL of their belongings that I have been going through for the last six weeks. With God’s help I only have one area that remains. This process is such a powerful example of how God times events in our lives. You may be like I was - the relationship with my Mom had extreme ups and downs. She was part of my greatest achievements and also at the bottom of my deepest pain. Yet, at even now I still love her. Today as I was going through yet another box of their stuff I came across several folders of Mother’s Day cards that my sister and I have given her through the years. Only God could time this so that I find this days before Mother’s day. It brought an unexpected surge of pain. Truthfully I watch less TV and have even dreaded looking at my email these last few weeks because of all the Mother’s Day advertising. It’s been 5 years since she went to heaven but there is still a stab in my heart. God is still healing that wound. You may be in the same position. The wound may be fresh or the wound may be in the process of healing. If you have lost your Mom and are still dealing with that pain I would encourage you to spend time processing that pain. We are typically taught to stuff it or ignore it. But you only get rid of the pain by acknowledging it, feeling it and releasing it back to God. It helps me to journal what I’m feeling in a prayer to God. What helps you may be different but strive for another step towards freedom this year. It’s time for us to heal and not be bound by wounds that have never healed. God never intended us to go through this life as the walking wounded. Praying for all of you who are also going through this healing process! Love in Christ.
