My current top films of 2014(In no particular order) Disclaimer: I have yet to see Interstellar, Gods and Kings, The latest Hobbit film and others I will definitely consider in my final list) - Fury(The most intense action drama Ive experienced in years, yet simple and straight forward) - Captain America: The Winter Soldier(Intense, epic and thrilling) - Live, Die, Repeat(Edge of Tomorrow)(Unsurprisingly entertaining) - The Maze Runner(Surprise entry, great mystery, strong cast, cant wait to see where the franchise goes) - The Amazing Spider-man 2(Emotionally engaging and a love letter to the art of Spider-man swinging through NY) - Chef(Refreshing and palate cleansing) - Guardians of the Galaxy(All of the awesome) - Begin Again(Beautifully simplistic, engaging and inspiring) - Dawn of the Planet of the Apes(Surprise of the year, the most engaging Animal(CGI) characters in film, in my humble opinion) - Pompeii(my favorite romance of this year, not the best story but a good use of setting, characters, timing and logical ending) Special Mentions - How to Train your Dragon 2(Just plain fun) - Boyhood(An interesting trip down memory lane and through middle America all at once, yet not really gripping, engaging or genre defining, it misses more than it hits and is highly overrated, possibly the most overrated film of this year) - X-Men: Days of Future Past(A strong cast and tricky plot device squandered on horribly forgetful writing)
