My dad always used to tell me that if they challenge you to an after-school fight, tell them you wont wait-you can kick their ass right now. - Cameron Diaz I love that quote, because it reminded me of some advice my father gave me when I was kid. I was bullied a bit (I know, I know..hard to believe. Wish I had the mouth on me then like I do now, but anyway......), Id come home from school, running off the bus and in tears and since I was a daddys girl, I wouldnt stop running until I got to him. He always knew what the tears were for - always the same crew of girls who gave me a hard time. Well, one of these times, he had a box next to him. It wasnt wrapped and didnt have a nice pink bow on it or anything - just a plain brown kinda beat up box and he handed it to me and told me to open it. It was a book satchel. Because I was raised to have manners, I said thank you, but I had this puzzled look on my face. He told me to carry that satchel to school every single day and if I dont have to bring home books for homework, bring some home anyway. Always have books in it and the next time someone gives me a hard time and ONLY after they put their hands on me first, take that satchel and use it as defense and knock the hell out of them! He told me it wouldnt matter if I won or lost - its wasnt about that. It was to show that I had courage and not going to condone being picked on anymore. He said whether I won or lost, as long as I stood my ground, I won ;) He was right. It only took one time with that satchel and those girls never bothered me again. He has always been right about everything he has told me. My father and I have not seen each other in quite a few years, but we do speak over the phone and I still follow his advice to this day. I still look at him as my hero.
