My dad told us as kids he had wished he had come to America as a young man.... In a way his three sons did make his wish come true. First I came in 1978 with $230 in my wallet, two rackets and a duffel bag. On a visa to be able to make a little money playing the WATCH circuit in Florida. I had full intention of going back to Austria and live there however my career took off immediately in 1978, I met my first wife and decided to make America my home. I went through all the paperwork with an attorney, waited years for my green card and another bunch of years to receive my American citizenship. I remember having to fly from Lake Placid NY to Miami to get sworn in as an American citizen feeling proud to be a newly minted American. All in all it took thousands of dollars to do this and a number of years later I helped establish my two brothers through the same perfectly fine system by living in Naples Florida in my condo. We did it the right way! No sneaking in, no games, no entitlements...just going through the whole process like everybody should! What President Obama is doing is a huge slap in the face to all those who have done this the right way. If we are called a land of laws, then why are so many foreigners allowed to just walk across the border and make themselves at home with all sorts of entitlements by either having babies here etc. I understand hardships, I understand people want a better way of life. But NO country can survive an onslaught of illegals unchecked. Not to mention the terrible risks we face with an open border knowing how hell bent some of these terror groups in the Middle East and other places are and well funded to boot. There is No reason to believe that people hell bent on killing as many of us as possible are not plotting the easy way into the US through our porous borders. I understand the issues, it is not an easy subject. But I reject the notion that we are a land of laws for some but not for others. Either we do it right with laws on the books we have or we might as well take out the fences and let everybody in...... I feel ripped off.....I can just see Obama pointing his finger at me saying....sucker!
