My daughter Caitlin posted this on my wall the other day with the words See mom... God knew Aidan needed you as much as you needed him As many times as the words written in this photo have been said to me, I never once have thought the way she said it. God knew *I* needed Aidan as much as he needed me. Boy, that really made me stop and think...and its so very true. When he was diagnosed with Autism in 2009, I was devastated. I was ANGRY. And I felt the guilt of 10,000 mothers thinking that somehow this was all my fault. I was lost. But from this, I found things. I found the overwhelming support of some amazing people. I found the goodness and beauty of celebrating the little things. I found a POWERFUL love within myself. I also found my sense of being. My sense of purpose in life...both personal and professional. So yeah. I really DID need this amazing little boy with Autism as much as He needed me to be his mother. I am Blessed. More so than I ever thought I would be or thought I deserved. Thank you, Lord for having the Faith in me to bring such an amazing boy into this world. You certainly do work in Mysterious ways.
