My daughter Isabella - who had to read Into the Wild for school and who therefore inspired me to re-read it -are fascinated with this guy. This hypothesis - that he was not starved directly but poisoned and thereby unable to hunt and gather - changes the view some might have of him. His life and death inspired great passion on both sides among her classmates, Isabella told me, and its understandable why.
