My daughter and I attended this screening and I must say that it proved most enlightening. I highly recommend this documentary, as it lends an eye into a number of socio-cultural and socio-economic issues which highlight the interconnected nature of the Black/Creole/Afro-descendents who live throughout Central America and beyond. It was an eye-opening experience regarding just how similar our: histories, cultures and experiences truly are. I found the historical overview of the Miskito Coast of Nicaragua to be of particular interest, especially as to how what occurred there holds particular significance to Belizes current situation regarding our neighbour to the West, which persists in its unfounded claim to our sovereign territory. I can safely say that if the documentaries which headlined the opening of this showcase are indicative of the calibre of films that shall be shown over the next two weeks, I believe everyone should make an effort to attend at least one screening. Great job Suzette Zayden. Keep up the outstanding work! Paco Smith!!!
