My daughter and i have embarked on topic of boys, dating, romance, courting, and respecting and protecting your body. During one of our lil convos yesterday we talked about arranaged marriages and how grandma was forced into an arranaged marriage and ran,away from home to avoid it. And how years later she attempted to arrange me without me knowing about it and how i refused refused refused. But that had my mom talked to me about it maybe just maybe my response wuda been different. I ask joyous wud u ever be open to something like an arranged marriage. The child said yes. She said yes cuz she trusts me more than any man out there. And thanked me for asking her and not just doing it. I said all these things,we are speaking on my mom and i never spoke on cuz colonialism made they taboo and made women loose control over their bodies, their power and their destiny. She said decolonize!!! I have won.
