My daughter learned the hard way. She flipped her car end over end - TopicsExpress

My daughter learned the hard way. She flipped her car end over end twice then rolled her car. She was very lucky, she received 17 stitches in her hand, seat belt burn and minor bruises. Luckily it was her versus a ravine and no one else involved. It can wait, your life cant. No message or call is a matter of life or death. But texting, reading or answering that phone could very well be. My sister still does this and whats sad is she does it with 4 children 6 and under in the car. My pleads are on deaf ears and whats worse is even after my daughters accident she continues. My daughter was living with my sister and on the way home my daughter got a text from her. My daughter looked down to read it and as she looked up there was a slight curve, she veered to correct, overcompensated and went in the ravine which hurled her end over end then it rolled. This is in the country, she lost her phone in the roll. She climbed out the back windshield that was broken and started walking. Luckily a Guy drove down the road and saw her. That was the longest 2 1/2 hour drive in my life. All I knew was she was in an accident and not how bad. I was amazed she sustained such minor injuries after seeing her car. She no longer texts and drives but I worry, it still remains in her lap while driving and at lights she always looks at it. I was quilty of answering text when driving down there before her accident. My phone remains in my purse when I drive now. The only time it gets answered is when someone else is there to answer it. I think it should be a nationwide ban on phone use while driving. Statistics show it is as dangerous as impaired driving and just as fatal.
