My dear Stephen Keshi! It is yet again that period when I am always compelled to write you a letter. This time, the importance of the letter cannot be over emphasized. This is because you and your lads, the Super Eagles, will be representing the country and in deed Africa at the World Cup in Brazil. You are already aware that the competition kicks off in about 3 days. As Nigerians, we are very much concerned and nervous. I will explain the reasons why we are scared to our bones at this time. Some of us believe that your choice of players that will represent the country was less than professional. Personally, I believe that some folks who eventually made your World Cup squad have no business being in that team. The inclusion of Joseph Yobo and Shola Ameobi has been seriously questioned by analysts. You forgave Osaze Odewingie and refused to extend such gesture to Ike Uche, a striker of known high quality. Who is a Shola Ameobi when Ike Uche is available? However, you are the boss and the buck stops at your table. There may be some things that you know which we are not aware of. Having said that, let me quickly add that the performance of you and your lads have been anything but impressive so far in the friendlies that you have played. The team lack cohesion and the players appear almost clueless. There is no evidence of fighting spirit. In fact, the Eagles look very ordinary that one begins to wonder if these guys are the same people that played at the Confederation cup. Your captain, Joseph Yobo I is the worst culprit, an indication that his inclusion is a mistake. Remember that the country is going through a very terrible moment. Most of us are earnestly looking forward to the World Cup to have a little smile and to be proud of our country once again. With the way you and your lads are going, it appears that we are going to be denied that opportunity. I beg you in the name of God, do not add to our sorrow. You still have time to psyche the players and extract a commitment from them. They should know that we are strongly behind them all the way. They should be rest assured of our prayers always. You are a fine coach, this you have proved on occasions. This is the time to prove to your critics that your nations cup success was no fluke. Yes, some of our folks believe that you achieved that stroke by luck. You will be proving them right if you allow this lack luster performance in the World Cup. Once again, do all you can to ensure that this disaster averted. Our prayers will be with you. Yours truly A committed fan.
