My dear cousin Richard who is 66, just left 12 hours ago from Dakar in Senegal, to row across the atlantic ocean. 17 other rowers in their own boats are making the same journey. The trick is to row and catch the ocean currents and winds to help propel you towards your destination. After jus t 5 days of rowing the boats could be some 500 miles apart. It will take him an estimated six weeks to row across the atlantic to end up in South America French Guyana. The latest weather forecast calls for a low pressure system where he will be soon running into 14 foot swells. Godspeed!
