My dear friend Andrea Clearfield founded The Salon, a renowned performance series modeled after 19th-century European salons, in 1986. In the twenty-eight years since, more than 6,000 performers and 16,000 audience members have come to Andrea’s living room. The Salon fosters new art forms in an intimate and supportive atmosphere and it’s been heralded as “one of the best known music salons in the country” with a “deep bench of topflight musicians” and “an underground sensation.” But its future is now uncertain, since the Salon’s longtime home has been put on the market.
