My dear friends I am on the move again after having come back from - TopicsExpress

My dear friends I am on the move again after having come back from a Parliaments Estimates Committee tour of Eastern, Western and North Western Provinces on 10th April. Now I am with the Parliament Committee on Local Government, Housing and Chiefs Affairs. The tour shall cover Eastern and Southern Provinces. Having left Lusaka on Easter Monday, 21st April, we had a first meeting with District Council officials and Councillors in Petauke and two more in Sinda and Katete. Today we had another meeting with Chipata District Council. I am impressed by the zeal and enthusiasm exhibited by most of the people we have met. I am also pleased to note that many people are appreciative of the infrastructure development that is taking place in many places. The Great east Road is on the mend; the road leading to Petauke town is being worked on and street light poles have already been erected; new District offices are being constructed in Sinda, a recently created District; the Chipata - Chadiza road and its twin the Chipata - Vumbwi road are bellowing with dust due to heavy equipment working on them. The scanner at Mwami boarder is ready for commissioning and its accompanying goods searching bay is being constructed. The people in Chipata are ecstatic about the commissioning of the Mchunji - Chipata rail line. On a down side though many are eager to hear when real and meaningful decentralization shall take root in line with the Decentralisation Policy. I urge all of us to take keen interest in both the tangible and governance development of our country. God bless Zambia.
