My dear seminarians -- especially Fletcher Kitchell, Larry Durchholz, Tyler Tenbarge, Jerry Pratt, Kevin Effron, Andrew Thomas, Luke Hassler, and anyone else I may have forgotten... As you prepare for another academic year, I offer these words of advice as a man out on the front. Learn from my mistakes. 1.) Get up to speed on parish cemeteries -- specifically, what the heck youre supposed to do with one (other than bury people). 2.) If you dont know how to dismantle old, lead pipes, now is the time to learn. 3.) Teach yourself how to cook. If you need some help, give me a buzz. 4.) Learn everything you can about marriage prep and marriage nullity. EVERYTHING. Remember -- youre not being ordained to run a business, be a mechanic, cook like a chef, or specialize in marriage law. Youre being ordained to be a SAINT, but knowing about the things Ive listed can help on the human side of things!
